The Terrifying event that inspired "The Conjuring 2"

The Terrifying event that inspired "The Conjuring 2"

On August 31, 1977 two sisters were preparing to sleep at his home in Enfield, England, when they heard noises in the room. They called their mother, who scolded because they had the reputation of being quite pranksters, but after she left the room, the sounds returned. Immediately the room furniture moved and all the drawers were opened. The girls screamed his mother, who returned, and when trying to move the drawers, it was impossible, as if an invisible force to restrain her. At that time he took his daughters and all down to the room where they called the police. This event was the beginning of the most documented event in history about a poltergeist and will soon have an adaptation that promises to be one of the best horror movies.

"The Conjuring" is based on the work of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the most important American couple who dedicated himself to investigate paranormal phenomena during the second half of the twentieth century. The first part narrated his experience with a haunted house in Long Island, but the sequel will show the famous event that happened in England in the late 70s, a fact that even today is still under discussion because it is not known whether it was one of the cases real best documented in history or on the contrary, one of the greatest jokes ever made hands of two girls, which fell policemen, journalists, researchers and consequently, most of a country.

After the aforementioned incident, Peggy, the mother of girls, called police because he believed that there could be thieves or pranksters in the house. They searched all over the place, but found nothing. What the official report does show is that one of the policemen said he saw a chair moving several centimeters without anyone pushing. As they left, the activity resumed. The dishes flew, beating on the wall intensified and days later, a photographer who sought record activity was hit by a piece of hot Lego (heat is one of the characteristics of a poltergeist) that left a mark for days. Soon after came Maurice Gross, one of the most important paranormal investigators of the moment.

Gross was a member of the Society for Psychical Research, which belonged to people like Freud and Jung. He was one of the people who got involved in the case (unlike the upcoming film premiering in which priority is given to marriage Warren) and years later continued to defend what happened as one of the greatest supernatural events in the history. Meanwhile, Hodgson family, consisting of Peggy, his daughter Margaret of 13 years, Janet 11, 10 and Billy Johnny 7, feared for his life to live harassed by a creature who apparently enjoyed his torment.

They were 18 months lived tormented with guttural voices coming from nowhere, beating on the walls that going to review them sounded elsewhere, rooms where dogs barking could be heard and to enter them could not find anything or anyone inside . Soon things got worse: garments, becoming stronger objects that were thrown in unexpected directions and even the situation became so serious that Janet came to levitate violently to the ground after being thrown spontaneously moved. On another occasion, the researcher Maurice Gross heard the girl screaming having his foot. Upon entering the room they found her with her leg in an awkward position and try to move them impossible. Two adults were trying to pull a girl who obviously had nothing to hold her there, so many stopped being skeptical after the attack.

In what some considered a demonic presence, others maintained a logical position, for which an explanation to events not mean they were not real find. Although police, neighbors and researchers swore have witnessed the events, people like Anita Gregory, a leading psychologist, was determined to find the farce, and somehow it did.

The girls said the poltergeist refused to speak or to commit their violent acts when someone outside the sisters (as Gross experts say usually attack poltergeist especially young women) was in the room. That seemed part of the farce, so one day he allowed them to enter the room and the sisters asked him to turn around, close his eyes and his ears gourd; only in this way the spectrum said. Pillows and small objects flew to Anita Gregory, who came to hear the demonic voice cursing. Incredulous at all specifications of a ghost to manifest, he hid a camera in which later saw Janet bent a spoon and then say it was the poltergeist.

Shortly afterwards discovered that one of the sisters could pretend that infernal voice without hurting her throat and although currently Janet accepts have faked by the pressure of the media always looking for something new, also they swear that if it came to pretend something was about 2% of everything that happened in the house. The end of the events was as abrupt as the onset. One of the daughters believe that because they began to dominate the fear and panic, the poltergeist lost attention on them. The investigations ended and the press left, but the damage was done and while many thought it was a cursed family, others called it a fraud.

The family did not win any money for the coverage, did not benefit otherwise and his reputation was ruined. The girls had trouble readjusting to society when it was over, so people do not understand why they pretend such things. Even today, Janet is quite inaccessible and has given few interviews, trying to leave everything behind. A curious phenomenon that the media made the most and that will certainly give much to talk about for years, but surely will discuss the case in July when the film "The Conjuring 2" comes to haunt not only the British public, but the rest of the world.
